Our Coaches

Coaching Staff: We are very proud to announce our coaching staff. We put our full trust and confidence in this group to help develop, mentor, and push your sons in both lacrosse and life. Each coach has proven that they are dedicated to growing the game and our program in a positive manner. Their desire to be excellent coaches and mentors has been proven time and time again with their leadership, sacrifice and hearts.

High School:

  • Tyler Black: Raised in Jupiter, Florida, he was a 4x starter at Jacksonville University. A 2x MAAC All-tournament team and program leader in caused turnovers, he was also voted a captain his senior season. After coaching at other high schools in the area, Tyler currently serves as the Defensive Coordinator at Nease High School. Tyler will and has always done whatever is needed of him and he will continue to serve as a tremendous leader and addition to our program. 
  • Connor Lindsey: Raised in West Chester, New York, he attended Nassau Community College and then eventually moved on to play at CW Post. Connor eventually relocated to the Jacksonville area and immediately sunk his teeth into high school coaching. Currently an assistant coach at Nease High School, his infectious energy and attitude will be a staple to how we want our program to operate. 
  • Sam Dovan: Raised in Fairport, New York, he played his collegiate career at Jacksonville University. A 3x team captain, Sam was instrumental in leading the defense and JU to their best season in program history. Currently, Sam is the defensive coordinator for the Junior Varsity team at Nease High School. His passion for lacrosse and attention to detail are key characteristics in helping to develop are younger players. 
  • JJ Pearl: He was the first D1 recruit out of the state of Florida who holds several records at Penn State where he remains in the Top 5 All Time in Saves and SV %. He played professionally as a goalie with the Baltimore Thunder, and was the starting goalie for the 2007 Bronze Medal winning Team USA Indoor team. He also served as the President and Director of the Baltimore Breakers Club team that produced numerous club championships, recruits and was widely known for producing collegiate goalies.
  • Kieran Byrnes. Kieran played collegiately at Villanova where he was part of the 2018 NCAA tournament team, and at Jacksonville University. In high school he was a 2 x State Champion at Garden City High School.
  • Liam Byrnes. Liam played collegiately at Villanova where he was part of the 2018 NCAA tournament team, and at University of Florida (MCLA). In high school he was a 2 x State Champion at Garden City High School and was the MVP of Project 9.


Youth:


U10

  • Rob Eidson. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Rob played varsity lacrosse at West Chester East Senior High School. He went on to play in the National College Lacrosse League (NCLL) at Mary Washington College (now the University of Mary Washington), where he was named to the NCLL All-Star team twice playing midfield and attack. Prior to moving to Washington, he served as a Head Varsity HS Coach in the 4A Virginia Commonwealth League of Northern Virginia. Coach Rob just moved to the area from Seattle, where he spent the last eight years as a high school and youth coach in the State of Washington.
  • Greg Reed. Raised in Maryland, Greg played midfield in high school and “X-Man” attack in college.  Greg brings his leadership and passion for youth lacrosse to VLC having been a long-time coach.  He coached youth teams to local championships while still in high school and has most recently helped coach our 10U travel and recreational teams to a championship and a second-place finish.  Greg’s number one goal at each practice is to help each player build confidence through skill development, field awareness and sportsmanship.

 

U12

  • Joe Coughlin. Raised in Bashore, Long Island, he was a 4x starter at New York Maritime College. A 2x captain and MVP, He ranks among the top 10 in school history for goals, assist, and points for a single season. Joe has been coaching for many years in various programs. Joe’s love for the game, our players and our program is always well represented.
  • Dave Azotea. Raised in New Jersey, played football and club lacrosse at Ursinus College. Dave began coaching youth lacrosse in New Jersey as well as serving as the President of lacrosse for the organization. The relationships Dave has formed and his attitude towards our club will prove dividends in our development of our players.

U14

  • Conor Shears. Coach Conor was raised in Arlington, Virginia and played collegiately at Bucknell, starting at defense for two years. At Bucknell he was a 2nd team All-Patriot League selection, and team captain as a senior. After graduating from Bucknell, he transferred to Jacksonville for his fifth year, starting at defense, and earning 2nd team All-Socon that season. Coach Shears has always had a passion for individual and skill development coaching going back to his high school days, and has been coaching club teams at the high school level for the past 4 years.

 

Director. 

  • Cameron Mann. Raised in Hamilton, Ontario, he played at Jacksonville University. A 4x captain at JU, Cameron continued his career in the professional ranks in both field and box leagues. After coaching for a few years at both the high school and college levels, Cameron went home to coach at the Hill Academy north of the border. Currently an assistant coach at Nease High School, Cameron is excited to take over as the Director of Villages and help grow it to one of the perennial programs in all of Florida.

President. 
  • Max Gurowski: Raised in Rochester, New York, he played at Jacksonville University helping them put the program on the map during their first few years. Over the years, Max has had coaching stints in many different programs throughout but is currently the Head coach at Nease High School. 2017 Coach of the year, Max brings his experience, a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and mentorship to our program.
